Uplifting Youth to Build Healthier Communities Through Wellness Strategies

Oakland, CA — Life I Love School is excited to announce the culmination of its 8-Week Wellness Program at Esperanza Elementary, inviting community members to join in a student-led showcase on Wednesday, November 20. Designed to empower 4th and 5th-grade girls with the skills and confidence needed to manage stress, this event highlights wellness strategies the participants have explored and embraced over the past two months. At this showcase, students will share tips, tools, and methods aimed at improving individual and collective well-being.

Throughout the 8-Week Wellness Program, Life I Love School participants focused on five foundational pillars essential to wellbeing: Movement, Nature, Art, Service, and Belonging. Each pillar represents a different pathway to wellness, providing students with a diverse toolkit for managing stress and promoting mental health. These pillars guide students in finding methods of self-care that are accessible, community-centered, and grounded in holistic well-being.

“We are thrilled to see our students take center stage in sharing what they've learned,” said Chasmin Moses, Executive Director of Life I Love School. “This program equips them with lifelong skills and the ability to positively impact others. By connecting with their community, they’re helping Oakland move toward a healthier, more supportive environment.”
